Finally!  Now that I am getting back into the swing of things after the "computer issues", I am pleased to announce the up coming release of our latest pattern.  This pattern will be released on June 1, 2010.

Introducing...

"Boston" the Kitty

Many of you have asked for "kitty" so here she is.  "Boston" is named after my beloved 20 year old Boston who sadly passed away in January of this year.  I love the way she looks with those big eyes looking up at you.  She really came out cute.  I hope you like her as much as I do.

Now for the fun stuff.  We are going to give our first pattern away to one lucky winner.  I'm even throwing in some Mulberry Paper so that you are off and tearing in not time.

Here are the details...

Entry is by our little blue froggie friend at InLinkz. All you need to do to the drawing is leave a link to your blog using our Inklinkz gaget below. Of course, I would really appreciate if you would mentioning it on your blog about our new pattern and blog candy, but it is not necessary to be in the drawing.  It would also LOVE for you to become a follower too.  That would really make my day. *smiles*

If you do not have a blog, you can still enter to win. Simply enter your full name in the name box and link back to this blog at http://thebearyscrap.blogspot.com.

Blog Candy will run from NOW until 11:59pm May 31, 2010. The winner will be choosen by Random.org on June 1, 2010 with our lucky winner being announced here on our blog.  Be sure to check back to see if you won.

Introducing Miko!

Hello Friends!  It was a hot one today!  I hear we can expect the same for tomorrow.  I took the day off today (boy, I needed one) to spend with my youngest Lindsay.  Her closing program for Nursery School was today.  Yes, I cried :(.  I can't believe how quickly the year went by and how fast she is growing up.  Before I know it, she'll be in Elementary Scool.  Abby and Dougie will not be done with school until June 4.  They would have been done this Friday if they didn't have to make up 4 snow days.

Now that I have looked at the days flying by here, Lindsay's surgery is coming up pretty quickly which has reminded me that I have to pick up her pre-op meds tomorrow.  She is getting her tonsils and adenoids taken out on June 3.  I've tried my hardest to explain to her what is coming up (not to frighten her, but to prep her for it).  There is absolutely no way to explain surgery to a 3 year old.  Blood work was bad enough.  When we went through this with Abby it was much easier.  She was 6 and had some understanding.  Anyway, I will keep you posted on her progress.  Yes, I'm a "Nervous Nellie".

Enough of that... lets talk fun stuff.  Many of you have asked, begged and pleaded for a monkey pattern.  I honestly lost count of all the emails and requests made on our Facebook fan page.  Because I adore you all SOOOOO MUCH, I am pleased to bring to you our 2nd release for June 1.  Drum roll please....

He is a bit larger than any of our regular patterns.  Miko stands just about 5" when complete.  He's only larger because his legs are longer than our traditional Teddy Pattern.  His inner ears are small pieces of Cream pulled from reminant mulberry paper which is easy to do, even for the beginner.  I used only 1 layer of our 165gsm Mocha and our standard 150gsm Cream Mulberry Paper to create Miko's example.  2 layers of cream were used on Mikos belly and muzzle.  Everything else is only one layer.  And, he's got FLUFF!  Oh, I LOVE OUR MULBERRY PAPER!  I've gotta tell you, I adore this color combination for Miko.  I think he wears the color well.  Don't you?
Additional pre-cut eyes (small tear drop) and the Miko's newly designed nose will also be available in our store on June 1st.  The nose even looks cute on Oliver and our traditional Teddy.
Thanks for stopping by!

May's All Day Crop Highlights!

Hi Friends!  I finally have a few photos to share with you from our All Day Crop this past Saturday.  I had forgotten my battery in the charger at home, but luckily, Cheryl has the same camera as I do.  She had a battery for me to use!  Our Cropping Queen came through for us!

Thanks Cheryl!

Here's Kim and Jackie hard at work...

A few giggles happening here...

Between digital Scrapbooking, Jackie opted to tackle Patty's tutorial on a Tri-Fold Card for our "Fancy Folds" Challenge.

She even had the directions printed out. :)

She even created a beautiful layout that I couldn't help but take a photo of to share with everyone.  Hmm, I think this one qualifies for Fancy Folding too!  Just look at those pinwheels.  Now, if I only got a picture of how much glimmer mist she was wearing after this layout - LOL.  Luv Ya Jackie!

A layout created by Charlotte that she already entered into our Fancy Folds Challenge...

How about this gorgeous layout created by our very own DT Member Michelle...

All day cropping tired these girls out.  We only had 2 croppers standing by 10:30pm.    Although, we had so much food that filled us up.  I certainly couldn't think of doing anything with paper.  We had lunch catered by the fabulous Angela from Angela's Everyday Gourmet  in Shavertown.  Oh, the sandwiches were De-li-cious!  Thank You Angela!

I wish I had some more pictures to share with you.  There were so many wonderful pages created that day!

Thanks for stopping by!

Take your Daughter to work Day???

What a BEAU-TIOUS day we had today.  The sun was shining (finally!), it was warm outside, and I got to take my youngest daughter, Lindsay, to work with me today after nursery school.  Sandy had so much fun watching her bounce around the store.  She LOVES coming to work with me.  The first thing she does is head to the Doodlebug section and starts hording all of the cute brads and stickers.  When she runs out of room in her little hands, she grabs a basket....
She know where all the good stuff is!  Rainbow paper!  Oh, got to have it!  Of course, the store gets paid with HUGS & KISSES.

Decisions, Decisions....  That display is twice her size.

A girl can't have enough brads and charms!

After shopping, it's time for lunch.  Believe me, she worked up an appetite!  We had 3 baskets full of scrap goodies to put away by the time she was done.  Wow!

She even had Sandy make her a "car" out of a box that was just the right size for her to sit in.  I didn't get to take a picture of that *bummer*.  I'll get one tomorrow and post it here.  My niece Maddy got to enjoy it too when my sister came for a visit with her kiddos.

It was a BEAU-TIOUS day to say the least.

Thanks for stopping by!

Tear Bears 101 Class Highlights

Happy Day to all you!  Today at the shop we had our Tear Bear 101 Class.  What a packed house of fabulous ladies - and talented too I must say.  For 99% of them, this was their very first attempt at making a Tear Bear.  You'd never know it based on the results of their little critters.  They blew me away!

Many of you know that I don't make bears very often.  Yes, I actually made a bear today while walking the ladies through the process step by step, trying not to leave anything out.  What I love the most is making the patterns and teaching my students everything I've learned over many years of trial and error.  I keep no secrets and share with our students anything I can think of to make their creative endeavours in the "tear bear" world easier.  Oh, if you had only seen my very first bear - it was horrid!

The ladies gave me permission to post their gorgeous faces and adorable bears to share with you all.

Don't they look focused?

Charlotte is missing from the photo - she was having car problems.

So there you have it.  A wrap of today's class and our New Tear Bear Artist's.  Girls, I will have a certificate for you this next week so that you can proudly display your new talent.  For our Out-of-Town travelers, please email me with your address and I will mail it to you.

Happy Mother's Day & a new bathroom???

Hello friends!  Happy Mother's Day to all you hard working Mama's out there.  I whipped a quick card together for my dear mother-in-law while I was at the shop Saturday.  She is such a remarkable woman and an amazing Grammie!

It's been a crazy week to say the least.  My computer finally arrived on Wednesday.  Its been a tedious process getting back up and running, but I have been making progress.  Going from a 10 inch screen to a 15 inch screen has been a DREAM!

My Hubby has decided to undertake remodeling the bathroom.  Not necessarily by choice.  There was a small drip behind the tub over the years (who knows how many, we've only been here 4 years), that rotted out the floor and walls.  Needless to say we've had to treat for mold too.  And who puts Pergo flooring in a wet bathroom anyway?  Yo!  It's not made to get wet, unless it is sealed.  We knew this project was coming and since we got some income tax money back, it was now time to make it happen.  The plan was to replace the tub and flooring then wait to change out the cabinets, toilet and sink.  I can see how this is going.  Oh, we also have a huge hole in the kitchen ceiling from a leak (more like gush) that happened while they were putting in the new plumbing.  Remodeling is 3 times the work and 4 times the headache!  Sorry, no photos!  I was at the shop all day while this was going on.

Anyway, here is the card I have made for my mother-in-law.  Last week's Sketch (which I missed) at one of the Magnolia challenges inspired me.  Of course, another project I started and was crunching my time to finish it.

Card Recipe:
  • Papers:  Bazzill Cardstock, Basic Grey Kioshi, Neenah Cardstock
  • Medium:  Magnolia Stamp, Copic Markers, Prima colored pencils with OMG, distress ink, stickles glitter glue for her dress.
  • Embellishments:  Mulberry Paper Flowers, Silk Ribbon from Stash, pearl pins from stash.
  • Tools:  Sewing Machine, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Martha Stewart Border Punch, Printer for sentiment.
I also created a box for this card.  I really guessed at all the measurements since I didn't have a guide to follow.  It fits perfectly.  I used matching papers and added a beaded ribbon trim around the lid of the box.

I don't think I did to back for throwing it together quickly.

Thanks for stopping by and allowing me to share with you another "Beary Sweet" Design by Me.

The Beary Sweet Challenge - May Flowers

Happy Tuesday Friends!  Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I spent my weekend at the store recovering from a root canal on Friday.  Drinking coffee was an interesting experience to say the least.  Thank goodness we had a full house of PMS Scrappy Croppers on Saturday night and not Friday.  I can honestly say that today is the first day I haven't been in pain in some time.  Thanks Dr. Scott Watkins!

Today I am sharing with you my inspirational piece for our Beary Sweet Challenge taking place right now on our Desingers Blog.  Yesterday, Susan displayed some gorgeous flowers she made for her card.  Swing over there and check them out if you get the chance.  They are really easy to make.

So, what do May Flowers bring?  BZZZZ! That's right, pesky bees.  Can you tell I'm not a fan of bees?  Let me rephrase that...  I despise bugs!  If it has more than four legs, chances are it's going to get squashed!  Even so, bees are what makes our flowers bloom and our gardens grow.  Our world could not sustain without bees.  As long as they keep away from me, it's all good here.   I love what they do for our planet.

My card today was inspired by this adorable Magnolia Honey Bee Tilda Stamp.  When I decided to use this stamp, the first line of paper that jumped out at me is the new Queen Bee Collection by Pink Paislee.  Oh, I love the colors and the prints.  It was hard to decide which papers to use.

I used a few of our new Beary Sweet Floral rose flowers in white and inked them up with some color box fluid chalks.  Our new floral line is in test production at this time and will be available as soon as we work out all of the bugs (no pun intended *wink*).  I love using white flowers because you can easily create the color you need for your project.  I had a few little flowers in my stash that I used to fill in the gaps a bit.  Then I tucked in a few leaf sprays to fill it out.  Lastly, I applied a bit of Stardust Stickles Glitter Glue for some sparkle.

Recipe:
I hope you've enjoyed by card today.  I was very excited to find the time to play along with the girls this week.  If you would like to take The Beary Sweet Challenge, click HERE for the details and enter your project for a chance to win a $20.00 gift certificate to The Beary Scrap!  We are really enjoying all the beautiful entries we've received so far.  Keep them coming!  You are all so inspiring!!!

Don't forget, our Blog Candy  is open until Wednesday, May 5.  You still have time to enter.

Be sure to come back tomorrow when Elise makes her debut with our Beary Creative Girls.  You will adore what she has to share with you!
